Kennet Tops for Recycling
Residents of the Kennet District are out-performing the rest of Wiltshire when it comes to recycling.
Recycling rates have soared from 11.48% to over 40% over the last five years, following improvements to Kennet District Council's in-house workforce and growing awareness among residents.
Rotting rubbish at landfill sites emits greenhouse gases which are one of the major contributors towards climate change. Recycling saves energy by extending the life-cycle of products and reduces the loss of wildlife habitats from quarrying, mining and forestry.
Reducing waste is not only beneficial to the environment. It also can save you money and keep council tax lower by cutting down on the amount of waste that has to be collected and transported to landfill sites.
